Conjunctions

Conjunctions are words which join together two clauses, such as (in English) ‘because’, ‘but’, ‘and’ and so on.

You can join together more than one conjunction or embellish a conjunction in German for a different meaning:

auch wenn/selbst wenn – even though, even if

nur damit – just so that

aber trotzdem – but nonetheless (v. casual – don’t use this in your CV!)
