Prepositions

A preposition is a word which tells us the position of a noun, such as ‘in’, ‘above’ or ‘through’. There are prepositions which describe the direction or position of a moving noun, such as ‘into’ or ‘along’, and prepositions which can be used in abstract senses, for example ‘I am against nuclear power plants’. There are also prepositions which describe the time of a noun, such as ‘on the 6th of January’ or ‘in a minute’.
